Folks, There Are Two Lines Here

January 12, 2009 – 3:11 pm

The lines going into the cafeteria at the recent World Missions Summit 2 in Cincinnati were very long. At each meal they stretched across the front lobby of the Duke Energy Center and around the corner.

There were two entrances into the cafeteria for meals. But, as I watched, I realized most were trying to go in the first door. So I made an effort to expedite the lines for students to get in quicker. I positioned myself just outside one of the entrances. With my most authoritative voice, I told students, “Folks, there are two lines here.” With that I began to direct the students to divide into two lines. During each meal I watched the same phenomenon take place. When I would point some to the second line everyone would move into it. When I would see this happening, I would direct some back into the first line. Again, the entire line would shift back.

I began to think how typical this is. The unreached of our world are searching for the truth but are only following the one in front of them. They never see that there’s another, better way. Our missionaries are crying out to them, “Folks, there are two lines here.” There is a better way.

In Cincinnati, more than 845 students signed cards saying they will “give a year and pray about a lifetime” of telling the unreached about the other line … the other line that will get them to Jesus! Now it’s our job to help those students get to their place of ministry!
